Daniel Rutherford Wilson will become the new director of federal affairs for the Paraprofessional Healthcare Institute (PHI), one of the nation's key policy advocates for healthcare's direct-care workforce.

Wilson, a 10-year veteran of the senior care policy realm, most recently served as national and federal programs director at Compassion & Choices, an organization focused on end-of-life choices. Wilson has also held positions with the National Caucus and Center on Black Aged and the Office of Management and Budget. Wilson also is a current co-chair of the 2016 Aging in America conference, sponsored by the American Society on Aging.

"Daniel’s wealth of experience and dedication to advocating for older Americans will be a tremendous asset to PHI’s renowned policy and research program," said Robert Espinoza, PHI vice president of policy, in a press release. "He arrives at a pivotal time when members of Congress and other federal officials are grappling with ensuring that our long-term care system has the necessary workforce to support millions of older adults and people with disabilities."
