Medicare Part D premiums will remain stable for the third year in a row, the Associated Press reported this week. Seniors in the “doughnut hole” will continue to pay an average of $30 a month for the coverage, thanks in part to the use of generic drugs.

The Part D premiums also have been stabilized by the effects of the Accountable Care Act, which includes initiatives to close the gap in Part D coverage.
