Former U.S. Sen. Mark Begich (D-AK) has joined the leadership team at the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) and will serve as vice president for policy and development, president/CEO of the Foundation for Hospice and Homecare and dean of the NAHC’s Homecare University.

"[Begich] has been a strong advocate of home care and hospice and we are fortunate that he has chosen to give his considerable talents to fight for patients, families, caregivers, and providers," said Val J. Halamandaris, NAHC president.

In his new roles, Begich will help produce educational materials, certification and accreditation programs and build positive public awareness for homecare and hospice. In addition, he will help lead the Frederick Douglass Museum and guide the Homecare and Hospice Web-Based TV Network.

"I am pleased to be able to join in helping to assist the nurses, aides, therapists and executives who have devoted their lives to serving the ill, aged, disabled and dying. I am pleased to be part of NAHC," Begich said in a release.
